For those who desire a street address to enter in their GPS, the address of Holy Cross Episcopal Church (directly across Highway 194 from the Fair) is 122 Skiles Way, Banner Elk 28604.
From the intersection of NC 105 and US 321 (Wendy's on southeast corner), travel 4.8 miles south on NC 105 to the stoplight immediately south of the Watauga River Bridge. Turn RIGHT on Broadstone Road (SR 1112) and go 2.8 miles to NC 194 (at the Valle Crucis Elementary School). Turn LEFT and travel 1 mile on NC 194 to the Fair entrance. Turn LEFT into the fair, where parking attendants will assist you.
From Linville, take NC 105 12.3 miles north to the stoplight at the Watauga River Bridge. Turn LEFT on Broadstone Road (SR 1112) and go 2.8 miles to the intersection of NC 194 (immediately past the Mast Store Annex). Turn LEFT on NC 194 and travel 1 mi. to the Fair entrance. Turn LEFT into the Fair, where parking attendants will assist you.
Take I-40 East to Exit 85 at Marion, NC. At the bottom of the ramp, turn LEFT and go one mile to a stoplight. Turn LEFT onto US 221 North and travel 30 miles to Linville, NC. At the first stoplight in Linville, turn RIGHT to stay on US 221. At the second light in Linville, turn LEFT onto NC 105.
Take NC 105 12.3 miles north to the stoplight at the Watauga River Bridge. Turn LEFT on Broadstone Road (SR 1112) and go 2.8 miles to the intersection of NC 194 (immediately past the Mast Store Annex). Turn LEFT on NC 194 and travel 1 mile to the Fair entrance. Turn LEFT into the Fair, where parking attendants will assist you.
Turn RIGHT at the Banner Elk stoplight and take NC 194 north 6.2 miles to Valle Crucis. Turn RIGHT into the fair, where parking attendants will assist you.
From the intersection of NC 105 and US 321 (at Wendy's), travel 2 mi. south on NC 105 to the 5th stoplight (immediately past the Marathon station). Turn RIGHT on the NC 105 Bypass (signs read “Trucks to US 421/321 North”). Go 1.8 mi. to the stoplight. Turn LEFT toward Mountain City on NC 194 South.
Travel 2.9 miles. NC 194 will take a 90-degree LEFT hand turn toward Valle Crucis. Travel 3.6 miles on NC 194 into Valle Crucis.
At 3.6 miles, NC 194 will take a 90-degree turn to the RIGHT at the Valle Crucis Elementary School (just past the original Mast General Store). Turn right and travel 1 mile on NC 194 to the fair entrance. Turn LEFT into the fair, where parking attendants will assist you.
Take US 421 North 85 miles to Boone.
Turn LEFT at the 6th stoplight onto NC-105-Ext/US-221. (You will recognize this intersection as the place where the green overhead traffic sign has arrows pointing left toward Blowing Rock.)
Continue 0.8 miles on NC 105 Extension, straight through the traffic light at the intersection of US 321 and NC 105 (see Wendy's on the southeast corner). From the intersection of NC 105 and US 321, travel 4.8 miles south on NC 105 to the stoplight immediately south of the Watauga River Bridge.
Turn RIGHT on Broadstone Road (SR 1112) and go 2.8 miles to NC 194 (at the Valle Crucis Elementary School). Turn LEFT and travel 1 mile on NC 194 to the Fair entrance. Turn LEFT into the fair where parking attendants will assist you.
Take US 321 through Elizabethton to Hampton, TN.
Option 1- takes you through Elk Park and Banner Elk, NC
In Hampton, bear RIGHT on US 19-E through Roan Mountain, then 7 miles to Elk Park, NC. Turn LEFT onto NC 194 at the Times Square restaurant and travel 13.5 mi. through Banner Elk to the Fair entrance. Turn LEFT into the Fair, where parking attendants will assist you.
Option 2 - takes you toward Boone, NC and to Valle Crucis via a scenic route.
In Hampton, bear LEFT on US 321 and wind along past Lake Watauga toward Boone, NC.
Travel 34 miles on US 321 to Vilas, NC. Take a 90-degree RIGHT hand turn on NC 194 toward Valle Crucis. Wind past farmhouses, barns, cultivated fields and pastures filled with livestock for 3.6 mi. on NC 194 into Valle Crucis.
At 3.6 miles, NC 194 will take a 90-degree turn to the RIGHT at the Valle Crucis Elementary School (just past the original Mast General Store). Turn right and travel 1 mi. on NC 194 to the fair entrance. Turn LEFT into the fair, where parking attendants will assist you.
